Consider, for example, that you’re going to have the volume so loud that you feel like you’re right there on the sidelines. The low-end tones and the roar of the crowd will travel throughout your home no matter where the sound originates, but somewhere further from bedrooms or offices will likely be your best bet. If you have particularly thin walls, then you may want to invest in soundproof insulation, no matter where you decide to locate your fan cave.

Before you make a decision, be sure to give some thought to your home’s wiring and whether or not you’ll have enough outlets and power to get your fan cave up and running. If not, add an upgrade to your to-do list!

Paint and Prepare

Now that you’ve figured out where your fan cave will go, it’s time to paint the walls and prepare the room for a total transformation. As far as sports decor ideas are concerned, you can always paint the walls a neutral color and accent them with your favorite team’s colors. Alternatively, you can truly go all-out with your favorite team’s colors on each wall and make it unequivocally clear that you’re a die-hard fan. It’s your fan cave at the end of the day, so do whatever makes you happy!

That being said, before you break out the paint and get to work, think about whether or not you’ll replace the flooring as well. Hardwood or vinyl flooring are often perfect for fan caves, as you don’t want any beer or snacks staining the carpet!

Choose Your Furniture

You’ve got a game plan for the skeleton of the room, and now it’s time to fill in those blueprints with top-of-the-line furniture and amenities. You certainly can’t go wrong with a comfortable couch and a reclining chair, but you could also invest in bean bag chairs and other more unique pieces of furniture if you want to create a truly one-of-a-kind space. 

You know that you’ll be on the edge of your seat for the majority of the game, but what will you do during commercials, half time, and in the off-season? Investing in something like a pinball machine or darts can be great for small spaces, but you certainly can’t go wrong with a pool table or foosball if you have extra space.
