5 Tips for a Great Camping Trip

With summer in full swing, there’s no better time than now to pack your bags and get away from the city for a fun-filled camping trip. It’s important to make sure you’re prepared, so keep these tips in mind if you’re preparing for a trip into the Great Outdoors.

When you’ve finished reading this post, head over to the Personal-Prints catalog to view a number of nature-themed custom name art prints and personalized art pieces you can hang around your home or give to the camping enthusiasts in your life!

Make Your Reservation Early

If there’s one thing we’ve learned after countless camping trips around the country, it’s that you need to make a reservation as early as possible. Of course, you won’t need to make one if you’re truly getting off the grid and backpacking in the open wilderness. However, if you’re like most people heading to a national park or natural space offering ready-to-go camping spots, we highly recommend locking your dates in weeks in advance!

Practice Setting Up Your Tent In Advance

And speaking of advance preparation, don’t forget to practice setting up your tent. This is particularly important if you have a new tent you’re not familiar with. Don’t expect yourself to get it right the first time, and don’t count on getting to your campsite with plenty of daylight left, either. If an unexpected delay occurs and you have to set it up in the dark, you’ll at least be familiar with how to set it up and won’t have to worry about pitching a tent in the dark.

Don’t Forget Utensils

There’s a lot to remember when you’re packing for a camping trip, and unfortunately, it’s all too easy to forget about important details such as utensils. Bring plenty of metal forks, knives, spoons, and anything else you’ll need to eat meals at your campsite. Don’t forget about spatulas, s’mores skewers, pots, pans, and other cookware that you might need, either.

Bring Plenty of Clothing

Whether it’s a day-long hike or a week-long camping trip, it’s important to be prepared for anything Mother Nature can throw at you. Even if the weather is forecasted to be warm, bring plenty of cool-weather and waterproof clothing that can keep you warm in the early morning and dry if it rains. It’s always better to have a few extra garments than to be caught without something you need!

Leave No Trace

Last, but certainly not least, don’t forget to leave the campsite better than you found it. Make sure to clean up after yourself and your fellow campers, especially when it comes to food-related waste. Leftover scraps and bottles can be detrimental to the local environment and the wildlife inhabiting it, so be sure to bring plenty of trash and recycling bags you can dispose of on your way out. As the old saying goes, “Leave only footprints and take only memories!”
